Dress Code

Daytime Wear:  Casual attire is the order of the day. We suggest shorts, sundresses, tank tops, etc. for the ladies. For men: shorts, polo shirts, T-shirts, etc. For dining you may want to dress up a bit and/or bring along a light sports jacket or cardigan.

Evening Wear:  Most evenings we have a "Cruise Casual" dress code, but there are "Cruise Elegant" evenings where you will have the opportunity to showcase your more elegant attire (one evening on a 2-5 day cruise; two evenings on a 6-day or longer cruise). Both dress codes for the dining rooms are described below and pertain to children as well.

In the Dining Room:

Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code

Gentlemen: sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts
Ladies: casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs).

Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code
Gentlemen: Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, please do so.
Ladies: Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you’d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too!

For those who prefer casual attire for dinner time, the Seaview Bistro on the Lido Deck is open nightly and has a more relaxed theme. However, shirts and shoes/footwear (flip-flops) must be worn at all times inside the Lido Restaurant.

Health and Medical

Should you require medical attention while on board, our infirmary staff is available to assist you 24 hours a day. Guests who have any medical, physical or other special needs are required to contact our Guest Access Services to discuss their details of their specific needs.

Infant Policy
: For all cruises (except Transatlantic, Hawaii and South America cruises), infants are required to be at least six (6) months of age on embarkation day to be eligible to travel. For Transatlantic, Hawaii and South America cruises, infants are required to be at least twelve (12) months of age on embarkation day.

Carnival’s Pregnancy Policy: Prenatal and early infant care may require specialized diagnostic facilities and/or treatment that are not obtainable onboard ship during the cruise or ashore in ports of call. Therefore, a pregnant guest, prior to departure, (24 completed weeks or less on the day of disembarkation) must submit a letter from her attending physician certifying that her gestational status is normal and that she is fit to sail. We regret that Guests who would have reached more than 24 weeks of completed pregnancy on the day of disembarkation will not be permitted to sail.

Children's Programs and Policies

Camp Carnival is a year-round, fleet wide program that provides daily fun filled and age appropriate activities for children and teenagers between the ages of 2 and 11 years old. In addition, there is supervised "free play" and babysitting service. The program is designed so that families are able to enjoy quality family time together, and yet also have the choice of being with peers of their own age, whenever desired. Scheduled activities are planned for the following age groups:

2 - 5 years old
6 - 8 years old
9 -11 years old
Young Teens/Circle C 12 - 14 years old
Teens/Club O2 15 - 17 years old

Age Policy:  A child cannot be moved to another age group as it is a strict policy set by the Carnival Headquarters and cannot be deviated from, regardless of the situation. Children who have birthdays within the cruise are the only ones who are allowed to be moved up to the next age group. A list of all the children is provided from documentation received at embarkation so the Camp Carnival staff is aware what age group each child falls into. There are many times that the different age groups are together so that those families with children in separate groups can be accommodated.

Pre-Registration Online:  Families that book their cruise can now pre-register online before they arrive on board for Youth Programs. Once the guest has completed the Fun Pass, there will be a link that will enable them to pre-register for Youth Programs. By pre-registering, kids will be able to participate in the program once they arrive on board. The deadline to register online is 72 hours prior to the departure date.

Camp Carnival Orientation Meeting:  The Camp Carnival Orientation Meeting is held by the Youth Director and staff to give the parents as well as the children a chance to become familiar with the activity based program, policies and procedures. The parents and children also get the opportunity to meet the Youth Staff in their child’s age group as well as meet perspective friends. The Orientation Meeting takes place the first night of the cruise. Time and place is listed in the Carnival Capers.

Youth Staff:  Depending on the ship capacity, the itinerary and the time of year, we staff between eight and twelve youth counselors on board each ship, year round. All of our youth counselors have to meet important educational and professional requirements, as well as pass an extensive background check. Every youth counselor is either college educated in education, child psychology or youth recreation or has professional experience with children, such as teaching or daycare. The youth staff is international and all are professionally trained in CPR and are able to provide basic first aid for cuts and bruises.

Cigar smoking is only permitted in the aft Lounge or on open decks. Smoking is not permitted elsewhere in public rooms, nor in Guest staterooms.
