Josephine Kling is Chief Executive Officer of Seasite, the first online cruise portal for meetings and group events launched in September, 2009.
Kling started exploratory research for Seasite in 2007 to fulfill the vision she and partner Joyce Landry first had in the 1980’s of a Planner’s Guide to Meetings at Sea – in print! Jo formed the Seasite start-up team and has overseen the evolution of the entire website, shaping the content and user-interface to serve the needs of meeting professionals, based on Landry & Kling’s decades of experience.
Kling co-founded Landry & Kling in 1982 to specialize in cruise event services. She has always taken great pleasure in creating the perfect meeting at sea or theme cruise for each client, and managing Landry & Kling’s marketing and media relations. The company’s significant media presence and professional image -- established early on and with no budget -- is one of her proudest accomplishments.
Landry & Kling is now one of the most highly visible and widely imitated companies in the specialized cruise meetings market. A trailblazer for corporate cruising, Kling is a frequent industry spokesman and seminar leader. She’s authored a regular column on cruise meetings, appeared twice on NBC’s Today Show, and has served on various cruise line advisory boards. Incentive Magazine named Jo Kling & Joyce Landry among the “10 Women Who are Making a Difference in the Incentive Industry”, and in 2009 the partners were inducted into the Cruise Lines International Hall of Fame as “visionaries who led the way in seagoing corporate meetings and incentives”.
Kling has had memorable cruise experiences all over the world. She began her cruise career with Royal Viking Line in San Francisco and later became Director of Planning for Holland America Line in New York City where she met Joyce Landry. Along the way, she has held management positions in marketing research, advertising, and graphic design.
Jo Kling serves on the advisory board for NFTE, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and was instrumental in launching Habitat for Humanity’s first Women’s Build in Vero Beach, FL. She also served as a delegate to the US State Department-sponsored Women Business Leaders Summit in Riga, Latvia 2004, and in Amman, Jordan 2007.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kling graduated from St Louis University in Missouri with a BS cum laude in Psychology and Marketing. She lives in Miami and looks forward to more personal time, post-launch, for fitness, yoga, and fun… she might even take a cruise!
